The talk I attended was titled "Dealing With Changes" and Dr Reza Abraham was the speaker for this talk. He is the founder of InControl Group and has years of experience as a high performance coach for organizations. Dr. Reza Abraham is a Persian author with a PHD in Strategic Management and is now the founder of InControl Group. Dr. Reza has a formidable portfolio when it comes to his ability to share ideas on personal growth and leadership. His novel approach has led to invitations from organizations such as McDonalds, PwC and Loreal. He has been credited with producing exceptional results in terms of adding value to Fortune 500 companies.
This talk was hosted by the SNHU Student Society which I am a part of, therefore aside from attending the talk itself I was also a part of the management team. I believe this talk was very beneficial, particularly for college students as we deal with a lot of changes throughout our college career. Over the span of the past two years, we all had to deal with significant changes in our day to day routine. The transition from face to face learning to online learning was a challenging one and now the transition back is also extremely nerve wracking for most of us. As a final year student, I'm facing one of the biggest changes in my life, the transition from being a student to being a part of the workforce. I carried a significant amount of anxiety within me for a long time pondering over this huge change, however, Dr Reza's advice about only focusing on what you can control and not focusing on things you cant control helped me a lot. Our lives will always be in a constant state of change, his advice of remaining positive and choosing to eliminate the negatives in our lives was also something that enlightened me.
Dr Reza also imparted the importance of routines with us, he mentioned that on a daily basis he tracked his progress throughout the day. This practice helped him monitor his growth and his progress. Upon hearing this, I took up a similar practice of journaling my day to day activity, this helped me understand how I could improve myself and which areas I lacked both as an individual and as a student. Dr Reza also is somebody who aligns with my values, he believes that hard work is a necessity; While talent may play a role in one's success, talent without hardwork is worthless. This is a tenet and principle I follow very closely as well.
Overall, I would say that this talk was extremely refreshing and it helped me address my anxieties about the future and how to overcome them.
